Govori slovenščina · pogovor

You understand more Slovene than you can say.

Govori is twenty minutes a day that turns the Slovene you understand into Slovene you can say — out loud, before the exam asks you to.

The first coursebook and the first reader are free, in full. No card.

One exam. Two parts most people fail.

Permanent residence and citizenship in Slovenia ask for the basic-level Slovene certificate. It is one exam, scored part by part, and the parts candidates most often fall short on are listening and speaking — the two a book cannot teach.

Permanent residence
A2 — sixty percent on the basic-level exam
Citizenship
The same basic-level certificate
Draft amendment
B1 — eighty-five percent on the same exam; not yet in force

What the law asks today, and what the draft would change →

Twenty minutes, in this order.

ListenOsnove

Nobody can say a sentence they cannot hear, so this is where it starts: a text, one sentence at a time. Each one plays before you see it; then the text appears, slows down if you ask, and waits while you record yourself against it. What you have finished comes round again just before you would forget it.

Course sentences are clean; real language has weather. So the next step is stories you can genuinely follow — folk tales retold for learners, and short stories about a first year in Ljubljana — read aloud, the line you are hearing lit as it goes, a translation one tap away. An hour of study starts to feel like reading, because it is.

SpeakIzpit

At the pharmacy or the post office you have about one second to answer, and the oral exam tests exactly that second. So you practise it: one small situation at a time, answered out loud. The app hears you and shows how a native would have put it — one step above your level, never ten — and every better sentence becomes a card with its own audio.

Written for people who live here.

Every text in Govori is ours, written for this life: the first dober dan on the stairs, the pharmacy, the residence office, a neighbour's apples. Folk tales retold for learners, and short stories about a first year in Ljubljana — reviewed by native Slovene teachers, and read slowly and evenly by two neural Slovene voices, a woman's and a man's, every sentence recorded on its own, so every word is there to be heard.

Your course is two hours a week.
Govori is the other twenty minutes.

It does not replace your class. It is what you do between classes — for less than one lesson a month.
